The circa 26.9 hectare (ha) site is located on the northern side of Streetly, to the west of Chester Road and the north of Little Hardwick Road.
The site has predominantly been in arable agricultural use and is therefore of relatively low biodiversity value. However, there are higher value habitats comprising existing hedgerows and a small copse of mature trees which will be retained and enhanced with additional habitat creation as part of the extensive green infrastructure proposals for the development.
The site is is located in a highly sustainable location, on the edge of the existing settlement. The site had previously been proposed as an allocation for development in the now abandoned draft Black Country Plan, and has subsequently been identified to be removed from the Green Belt and allocated for residential development in the draft Regulation 19 version of the emerging Walsall Borough Local Plan (site reference HO3011).
